Calculate My Return operates calculatemyreturn.com. This notice explains what happens to information when you use the site.
The calculator
Starting amount, contributions, return, years, inflation, and the schedule are processed in your browser. Those figures are not sent to our server, because the page does not have an account system or a calculation API. If you download a CSV, the file is created on your device.
What is stored on your device
If you change the currency label, the site writes that choice to local storage under the key cmr-currency so the symbol is still selected next time. You can remove it by clearing site data for this domain in your browser. No account, login, or first-party tracking cookie is set by the calculator.
Email you send us
If you use the contact form, your email app sends the message. We receive whatever you put in that email: your name, address, and message. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. Do not include account numbers or identity documents. We do not run a marketing list from these messages.
Server logs
The company that hosts the site will normally log technical data such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested, so it can run and protect the service. Those logs are kept by the host under its own retention rules. We do not use them to build a profile of your finances.
Advertising
The site may later show ads through Google AdSense or a similar network. If that is switched on, Google and its partners may set cookies and use a cookie identifier to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can control personalised ads at Google's ad settings. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Visitors in the UK, the EEA, and other places with a consent requirement should see a certified consent message before advertising cookies are used. Do not enable personalised ads until that message is in place. This template does not include one.
How long we keep information
Calculator inputs are not kept by us. Emails are kept long enough to handle the request and any follow-up, then deleted when we no longer need them. Hosting logs follow the host's schedule.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, to object to certain uses, or to complain to a data protection authority. For the calculator itself we usually hold nothing to access, because the numbers never reach us. Contact hello@calculatemyreturn.com and we will explain what we have, which is typically an email thread if you wrote to us.
Children
The site is written for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If the site starts sending calculator data to a server, or adds analytics, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
